Good schools are important to the community

| February 9, 2017 2:00 AM

We are writing to express our support for the MLSD bond. This decision hinges on the need to provide infrastructure that is vital to our community’s continuing prosperity.

In 2010, we moved with our five children (11th grade through kindergarten) to Moses Lake when I accepted a position with an area food manufacturer. Unfortunately, that job didn’t last long. We had comfortably settled into our new home and community and suddenly faced serious choices.

As we weighed our options, it was clear Moses Lake was (and remains) a terrific place to raise a family — but could we also make a living? Although the economy was not robust, we recognized the potential for growth and prosperity. We stayed and committed ourselves to raising our family, building a business, and playing an active role in our adopted hometown.

We are forever grateful to be in Moses Lake. We have truly flourished. However, it’s not enough to carve out a comfortable niche; we must reinvest. We hope you will join our family in the drive to build a community where our children will want to raise their families — and find the means to support them. That is what we are choosing on Feb. 14 and why we are voting “yes” for the school bond.
