Prep roundup: Warden beats College Place on late free throws
WARDEN — Bailey Whitney sunk two free throws with nine seconds to play, sending Warden past College Place 56-55.
Whitney scored a game-high 23 points and Warden ended its season on a three-game win streak.
“It was a good win for the girls,” head coach Dan Caballero said. “Just for the fact to play tight games like that and persevere a little bit.”
Cassidy Turner and Ashlyn Yamane added 14 and 12 points, respectively. Aubree Skone had eight points.
Lone senior Elizabeth Ibarria was recognized on the team’s final home game.
Boys basketball
Warden 70, College Place 47
WARDEN — Warden held a 12-point lead at halftime and pulled away in the third quarter to beat College Place 70-47.
Adam Richins scored a team-high 25 points.
Tanner Skone and Jack Hardman combined for 21 rebounds, controlling the interior.
Boys wrestling
10 Chiefs make all-league
Moses Lake had 10 wrestlers make Columbia Basin Big Nine all-league.
Five wrestlers were first team: Nick Hara, Hunter Cruz, Daiman Vasquez, Payton Castro and Chandler Fluaitt.
Riley Burgess, Christien Knopp, Beau Mauseth and Daniel Zermeno were second team. Bailey Sanchez was honorable mention.
