OTHELLO — Othello senior Trenton Cutforth had a Senior Night to remember, wrapping up his final home game with 27 points and 20 rebounds to lead the Huskies past Quincy in a real Central Washington Athletic Conference shootout.

The two teams have won just five games combined this season, but they let it fly with 53 combined points in the fourth quarter. Othello (3-17, 3-14 CWAC) won 85-72.

“We haven’t had that many wins this year, so I was happy for the kids. It was nice for them to leave the court with a win on Senior Night,” said Othello coach George Juarez, whose team finished with 11 3-point baskets. “We’ve always had a low-scoring games with Quincy. But there was a lot of shots taken and a lot of shots made.”

Seniors Adrian Garza (14), Joseph Lopez (12) and Cutforth (27) combined for 53 of the Huskies’ 85 points. Daniel Chavez was not to be denied, showcasing his shot with a game-high 30 points for the Jacks (2-17, 1-16 CWAC).

Othello wraps up its season at Prosser tonight and Quincy hosts Ephrata in its final game of the year.

Moses Lake Christian 35, Wilson Creek 11 MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake Christian held Wilson Creek to just two first-half points and rolled to a Central Washington 1B victory. Weston Meise scored 13 to lead the Lions (9-9, 6-4 CWB) and teammate Ben Cabellero, a 6-foot-2 senior had 12.

“We played well defensively and kept them to one shot. Offensively, it’s always a struggle for us,” said Lions coach Lonny Brown. “Chris Voigt came off the bench and gave us some energy tonight. He gave us some real good minutes on the defensive end.”

Colton Minoletti led Wilson Creek (2-13, 2-7) with six points.

OTHELLO — Othello sophomore Macy Hampton scored 22 points and the Huskies held Quincy to just five points in the third quarter to win their second game of the season, 40-36.

“Ignacia Lopez is a senior that doesn’t get a chance to play a whole lot. She hit a 3-pointer from the corner that kind of woke us up after a slow start,” Othello coach Josh Tovar said. “The momentum changed with that shot.”

The Huskies (2-17, 2-15 CWAC) trailed 8-5 after the first quarter, but Hampton started going to the basket and sparked a 13-point second quarter. Othello held the Jacks (2-17, 0-17 CWAC) to just five points in the third quarter and held on to win the Central Washington Athletic Conference game.

Audisey Sauceda and Tanaya Andersen had four apiece for the Huskies. Alysha Donovan led the Jacks with nine points. Hailee McKee and Natalie Thompsen had six apiece.

Othello finishes up the season at Prosser tonight and Quincy will wrap up its season at home against Ephrata.

Wilson Creek 49, Moses Lake Christian 29 MOSES LAKE — Wilson Creek outscored Moses Lake Christian 19-5 in the second quarter and went on to win Thursday night’s Central Washington 1B game.

The key to the game was the Wilson Creek pressure defense, Moses Lake Christian coach Josh Kast said.

“We have two eighth-graders and two freshmen and they start most of the time. We’re just a young team and when we get pressured, we don’t have the ball handlers that are used to it,” he said.

Wilson Creek outscored Moses Lake Christian 31-10 in the second and third quarters to pull away. Aleah Gilley led all scorers with 13 points and Cassandra Hanson added nine for the Devils (8-7, 9-3 CWB).

Rylee Homesley was the leading scorer for the Lions (2-16, 2-8) with 13 points. Kyersten Hunt and AnnaMaria Dimoff finished with five points apiece.
