Basin roundup: Ephrata girls pull away from Othello in second half

EPHRATA — Avery Mickelsen poured in 20 points and Ephrata routed Othello 62-29.
The Tigers outscored the Huskies 33-9 in the second half.
Katelyn Ostrowski, Isabel Buchert and Sarai Kibby added eight points each.
Macy Hampton led the Huskies with 16 points, making 12-of-13 free throws.
Moses Lake 48, Stanwood 42
SPOKANE VALLEY — Moses Lake held Stanwood to 15 second-half points and won 48-42.
The Spartans took a one-point lead into halftime after Ashley Alter scored 12 points in the second quarter. Morgan Yamane was switched onto Alter in the second half and limited her to six points.
Abby Rathbun locked down Stanwood’s other top scorer Kaitlin Larson to the tune of zero points.
Jamie Loera led the Chiefs with a game-high 22 points.
Moses Lake faces Glacier Peak at Central Valley High School today, 2 p.m., in a rematch of last year’s state semifinals.
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 60, Wilbur-Creston 25
WILBUR — Almira/Coulee-Hartline led 30-11 at halftime and beat Wilbur-Creston 60-25.
Gabi Isaak led the Warriors with 14 points.

Moses Lake 65, Dysart 40
GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Moses Lake bounced back from its opening game defeat and ran away from Dysart in Day 2 of the Scorpion Challenge, 65-40.
Dysart implemented a press that Moses Lake was able to beat consistently.
“I thought we played a whole lot stronger,” head coach John Hohman said. “It makes a huge difference.”
Moses Lake also held Dysart’s top two scorers below their season averages.
Moses Lake plays Rio Rico today in its tournament finale. Rio Rico edged the Chiefs 64-63 last year.
Omak 76, Warden 51
WARDEN — Warden had trouble slowing down state tournament hopeful Omak in a 76-51 loss.
“Our youth has shown a little, but we’ve battled,” head coach Wes Richins said.
Jack Hardman scored 10 points and pulled down 12 rebounds.
Quincy 55, Grandview 54 (OT)
GRANDVIEW — Quincy outlasted Grandview in overtime to win its first game of the year 55-54.
Max Molina scored a team-high 20 points.
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 66, Wilbur-Creston 48
WILBUR — Maguire Isaak scored a game-high 28 points and Almira/Coulee-Hartline beat Wilbur-Creston 66-48.
The Warriors turned a one-point lead after one quarter into a 14-point halftime lead, outscoring Wilbur-Creston 22-9 in the second.
Payton Nielsen added 15 points.

Moses Lake second in Wenatchee
WENATCHEE — Moses Lake could not match Wenatchee’s depth and finished second at the Panthers’ invitational.
The host Panthers totaled 593 points and the Chiefs were second with 434 points. Quincy recorded 22 points and took fifth.
The Chiefs won six events, including the 400 freestyle relay. Zach Washburn finished first in the 100 freestyle (48.44) and the 100 breaststroke (1:01.52).
Dylan Bond (200 freestyle), Eric Kemper (100 butterfly) and Noah Heaps (100 backstroke) also took first.
Women’s basketball
Big Bend 79, Skagit Valley 64
MT. VERNON — Big Bend used a strong third quarter, outscoring Skagit Valley 21-11, to win 79-64.
Sunnie Martinez scored a game-high 21 points and Miranda Johnson and Leah Dougherty added 15 points each off the bench.
Emily Allan posted a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Big Bend plays Edmonds today at noon.
