Othello Huskies drop home games to Wildcats and Eagles
Othello Basketball took four games on the chin this past week with the boys and girls falling to Toppenish Dec. 19 and Connell on Dec. 21.
Neither team was in the contests with Toppenish as the girls were nearly doubled up 67-34. The Lady Huskies hung around at the beginning of the league game trailing 17-12 at the end of the first quarter, but that was as close as they got all game as the Wildcats took a 41-18 score into the locker room at the half.
Sierra Asbell (19) and Jenni Johnson (14) combined for 33 points to lead Toppenish. Macy Hampton led the Othello attack with 18 points.
Connell 45
Othello 38
The second game of the week was a bit tighter, but the result was the same as Othello came up on the short end of the scoreboard in the nonleague game against Connell.
The Huskies trailed 25-11 at the half, but did outscore the Eagles 27-20 in the second half. Unfortunately they were unable to make up enough ground to pull out the win. The losses drop the team to 2-5 in CWAC league play and 2-5 overall.
The boys didn’t fare much better against Toppenish as the Wildcats blew them out 92-60. Toppenish dominated with five players hitting for double figures, led by Adonis Shaul who drained a game high 20 points. Isaac Perez added 19. Isaiah Perez finished with 12.
Connell 66
Othello 61
Othello came oh so close to racking up a ‘W’ but a determined Connell squad held off the Huskies for a 5-point win in a nonleague tilt.
Othello boys and girls are back in action Thursday when the Huskies hit the road to Ephrata to take on the Tigers.
