Moses Lake boys basketball loses tight game in Arizona

| December 28, 2017 12:00 AM

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — A last-second shot bounced off the rim and Moses Lake lost its opening game of the Scorpion Challenge to Nogales 58-56.

Moses Lake had to do without reigning Columbia Basin Big Nine Player of the Year Zach Phillips after he was injured in the second half.

“The young guys stepped up, which was nice,” head coach John Hohman said.

The Chiefs were forced to adjust to Nogales’ style of play and only two referees.

“They played really tough defense,” Hohman said.

Moses Lake plays today against Dysart High School.
