Lind

-The City of Lind will soon install a new turbine pump. The new pump, with a special electric motor, weighs a ton and a half and has a capacity of 175 gallons a minute. The motor has a 20-horsepower rating.

Washtucna

-The farmers of this community have saved thousands of dollars this year by the organization of a rural fire department.

Grand Coulee

-For the first time in nearly a year a train will be able to proceed from Electric City to the government warehouse near the West Powerhouse at the dam. The material to be moved over the line will be handled by diesel electric locomotives.

Local news, Moses Lake

-A.M. Scheminski of Wenatchee visited at the Spark home Saturday.

-Mr. and Mrs. George Sparks were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charley Haines.

-Miss Joyce Johnson was a guest last week of Mary Keehan of Ephrata.

-Delmer Orlander, Wheeler, was a business visitor at Wenatchee Wednesday.

-Miss Bonnie Burress, who has been ill for the past two weeks, is reported to be improving. She will soon be able to be about.

-Mr. and Mrs. I. Cook and son, Stephen, of Spokane, were guests at the G.D. Arnold home Friday.

-Wm. Brokeema of Everett was transacting business in town this week and also looking after his land interests here.

Frenchman Hill News

-Ed Robbins sold four head of veal calves to the Priceless Market in Ellensburg Wednesday.

-Mrs. Bart, Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Harris and daughter, Susan, were business callers at Moses Lake Saturday.

-E.J. Barnes of Lind spent several days on his ranch at Frenchman Hill last week. He returned to Lind Friday taking his saddle horse in for treatment for a wire cut.

-Floyd Harris recently purchased a fine Hereford bull from A. Lewis of Coulee City who raises pure Herefords.

-Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Harris, Susan and Jessie Harris, Mrs. Bart Yogan, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Harris and son, David, enjoyed a picnic and hamburger fry at Goose Lake Saturday afternoon. The evening was spent in swimming and toasting marshmallows. A very enjoyable time was had.

Dennis note: This is the second time a swim party was held at Goose Lake. Must have been a fun and popular place to swim and hold a barbecue.
