QUINCY — Two people were injured in a collision east of Quincy Wednesday night.

About 5:20 p.m. Vern Edwards, 80, of Ephrata, was driving a 2012 Subaru Forester west on state Route 28, about 9 miles east of Quincy, and slowed down to turn south onto Road H Northwest. Edwards’ vehicle was reportedly struck from behind by a 2006 Lincoln Mark LT driven by David Belton, 61, of East Wenatchee. Both vehicles came to a rest blocking the road, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Belton and Edwards were injured and transported to Quincy Valley Medical Center for treatment. Both of the vehicles involved in the collision sustained reportable damages and were impounded.

The patrol reports the cause of the collision was Belton following too close. Belton was cited for second-degree negligent driving.
