Tony Cardenas

Tony Cardenas, 93, passed away Dec. 9 in Redmond, Wash. He was born in Hansen, Idaho and his family settled in the lower Yakima Valley where he farmed for many years. Tony was married to Carmen Diaz and raised nine children. Tony retired as a Parks Supervisor with the City of Moses Lake.

Our loving father was a lifelong learner and encouraged all of his children to pursue an education. He was a devout Catholic and a very generous, warm person. He was a great teacher to his children and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his son, Antonio Cardenas Jr. (Christina); daughters Abigail Tijerina (Lonnie), Teresa Chavez (Cesar), Rosalia McDonnell (John), Patricia Romero (Salvador), Isabel Wilder (Hugh) and Maria Benson (Greg); daughter-in-law Cindy Cardenas; 25 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two sisters Lucy Lucero and Lola Johnson and many extended relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife Carmen and sons Gabriel and David.

Services will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Moses Lake, Wash. on Friday, Dec. 15. Viewing will be at 9:30 a.m., Rosary at 10:30 a.m. and Mass at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Pioneer Memorial Gardens.
