Prep roundup: Moses Lake's Noah Heaps sets new 100 backstroke record
MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake freshman Zach Washburn got to enjoy his school record in the 100 backstroke for less than a week.
Noah Heaps clocked the new record time in 54.13 seconds, which qualified for the state meet, and Moses Lake dispatched Eastmont 138-47.
The Chiefs continued to set of slew of state qualifying times.
Eric Kemper qualified in the 100 butterfly (53.28), Washburn in the 200 (1:47.15) and 500 freestyle (4:52.87), and Ander Molitor trimmed his state time in the 100 freestyle to 48.6 seconds.
The 200 medley relay of Heaps, Brett Jorgensen, Kemper and Dylan Bond also made a state mark in 1 minute, 42.85 seconds, joining the 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay. Moses Lake is ranked No. 1 in state in all three relays.
Moses Lake hosts West Valley, 4 p.m., Dec. 19.

Ephrata 54, Connell 27
EPHRATA — Ephrata outscored Connell 24-8 in the second half and won 54-27.
Madison Martin scored a game-high 17 points and Katelyn Ostrowski added 13.
Ephrata travels to Selah on Friday.
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 78, Odessa 29
ODESSA — Almira/Coulee-Hartline routed Odessa 78-29.
Gabi Isaak led the Warriors with 18 points. Tiffany Boutain and Caitlin O’Neil scored 17 points each.
Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 56, Reardan 42
REARDAN — Lind-Ritzville/Sprague pulled away in the second half to beat Reardan 56-42.
Peyton Curtis scored a game-high 26 points.
Boys basketball
Connell 63, Ephrata 62
EPHRATA — Silas Chase made a go-ahead three-pointer and Connell escaped Ephrata with a win 63-62.
The Eagles outscored the Tigers 16-7 in the fourth quarter. Caden Blankenship had 19 points.
Ephrata is on the road against state runner-up Selah on Friday.
Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 58, Reardan 53
REARDAN — Lind-Ritzville/Sprague narrowly beat Reardan 58-53.
The Broncos led by four after three quarters.
Girls bowling
Moses Lake 4, Davis 0
MOSES LAKE — Moses Lake swept Davis 4-0 to move back over .500.
Kerisa Sanislo totaled 174 pins and Maddy Garza added 170 to lead the Chiefs to a Game 1 win 775-510. Sanislo continued her big day with 184 pins in Game 2 and Moses Lake won 720-507.
The Chiefs edged the Pirates in the first Baker game 143-138 and completed the sweep in the next 141-102.
Moses Lake hosts Sunnyside Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
