Willard Arvin Kofoed

W. Arvin Kofoed, 85, of Moses Lake passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017 at home where he had resided since 1964.

Arvin was born March 24, 1932 at home in Banida, Idaho. He’s the last child of five, the son of the late Willard Chris and Hazel Luey Monson (Kofoed).

Arvin grew up on the family’s farm. He graduated from High School in Preston, Idaho, then attended Brigham Young University for two years. He then left to serve two years in the Army during the Korean War.

When Arvin finished his service assignment, he returned to BYU to finish his college degree, graduating with a Bachelor,s degree in Animal Science and Agronomy.

He married Deone Cleverly on March 7, 1957. Arvin had drawn a GI parcel of land in the Minadoka project just west of Burley, Idaho. They lived there for seven years before moving to Moses Lake on a farm south of Moses Lake in March 1964.

Survivors include his wife of sixty years and seven children as well as their spouses, 25 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. His children and their spouses are Synthia Barlow; DeAnn Kofoed-Pinto and husband Victor; Garth Kofoed and his wife Beth; Elaine Kent and husband Laron; Curtis Kofoed and wife Michelle; Rachelle Kofoed and Keith Kofoed and wife Mariah.

There will be a viewing Sunday, Dec. 17 from 6–8 p.m. at the LDS Chapel on Nelson Road. The funeral service is Monday, Dec. 18 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Chapel on Nelson Road, Moses Lake, Wash.
