Nomination sought for giving companies

| August 25, 2017 1:00 AM

MOSES LAKE — Do you know of a local company that is doing good by helping its employees help the community? Well, there’s still time to nominate that business for a 2017 Corporations for Communities Award.

“We are very lucky to have many Washington companies that are committed toggling back in different ways,” said Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman. “This award program gives people a chance to help recognize these companies to contribute to local causes.”

According to the Secretary of State’s office, past nominees have included companies that offer paid time off for volunteer work, firms that have sponsored and organized fundraisers, matching employee giving, and companies that make donations themselves.

The Corporations for Communities program began in 2009 as a way to recognize Washington businesses that demonstrate a commitment to helping people or supporting the environment.

The deadline to nominate a business for the award is Aug. 31, and forms can be found at the Washington Secretary of State’s website. For more information, call Patrick Reed at 360-725-0358.
