Grant PUD employee in stable condition after accident
WANAPUM DAM — A Grant County PUD employee was listed in stable condition at Confluence Health-Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee Tuesday afternoon after he fell while working at Wanapum Dam Tuesday morning.
The accident occurred at about 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, according to a PUD press release. The employee, a man about 50 years old, was doing maintenance in a “dewatered draft tube,” which is the exit route for water that has passed through the turbine. The man slipped and fell, hit his head and was knocked unconscious, the press release said. He has worked for the PUD since 2003.
“He was with other employees during the accident,” the press release said, “and the dam’s rescue personnel requested an emergency transport.”
The accident is under investigation by PUD safety personnel.
