Grant PUD employee in stable condition after accident

WANAPUM DAM — A Grant County PUD employee was in stable condition at an area hospital after he fell while working at Wanapum Dam Tuesday morning.

The accident occurred about 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, according to a PUD press release. The employee, a man about 50 years old, was doing maintenance on a “draft tube,” which is the exit route for water that has passed through the turbine. The man slipped and fell, hit his head and was knocked unconscious, the press release said. He was airlifted to a local hospital.

The accident is under investigation by PUD safety personnel.
