Tribble takes bull-riding crown at Moses Lake Roundup

MOSES LAKE — Hoping to overtake Ari-Anna Flynn during Saturday’s barrel racing competition, Samantha Boone navigated the three-barrel course with ultimate command of her horse. As she made the final sprint each stride mattered and Boone clocked in at 17.12 seconds.

The second-fastest barrel racing time of the week.

Not enough to jump Flynn’s scorching run of 17.10.

Both rides occurred Saturday night within minutes of each other, treating rodeo-goers on the final night of competition.

Russell Cardoza and Jason Minor were given all-around cowboy honors. Cardoza competed in tie-down roping, steer wrestling and team roping; Minor tried his luck at tie-down roping and team roping.

On a night where the bulls were having their way, Garrett Tribble ended the three-day rodeo with a signature ride. Tribble rode “Damn Straight” to a score of 89 to finish first in bull riding, just ahead of Clayton Foltyn who recorded an 88.

Chet Johnson and Wyatt Denny won saddle bronc and bareback riding, respectively.
