Mattawa man seriously injured in two-vehicle collision

MATTAWA — A Mattawa man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision near Mattawa on Thursday.

About 2:40 p.m. on Thursday Isidro Morfin, 37, of Mattawa, was driving a 2010 Ford Expedition north on state Route 243, about five miles north of Mattawa, when he reportedly crossed the centerline and struck a 2008 International Harvester 5300 driven by Wesley Young, 33, of Prosser. Both vehicles came to a rest blocking SR-243, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Morfin was seriously injured in the collision and airlifted to Confluence Health-Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee for treatment. He was later airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for further treatment. Morfin’s passenger, Robert Ross, 47, of Mattawa, was also injured and transported to the Mattawa Community Medical Clinic. Young was not injured.

The collision is under investigation.
