Joan Berry Lybbert
June 21, 1935 – August 13, 2017
Joan Berry Lybbert, 82, passed away Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017 in her home. Joan is the third of four children born to Clarence O. Berry and Effie Treny Blanchard Berry. She was born in La Grande, Ore. She enjoyed living around her grandparents there and spending time with her many cousins. Her family moved to Warden when she was in high school.
After graduation she attended BYU for a semester and came home and married her sweetheart Lorin C. Lybbert. They celebrated their 63rd anniversary in May. They have resided in Moses Lake and raised their family: Randal L. Lybbert (Mary), Carol Hill (Bill) and Donna J. Ashby (Dennis), all of Moses Lake, Lorna Callahan (Kelly) of Royal City, Wash. and Beth Wright (Carey), of North Bend, Wash.
Joan learned to play the piano at an early age and later shared her love for music with many students. She worked for the school district and for U&I Sugar Lab, and was a medical transcriptionist for Samaritan Hospital for many years. Joan enjoyed sewing, quilting,and crafts. She loved her family and spending time with them. Joan enjoyed cleaning her house and trying to make sure things were organized. She was involved with several community activities and was member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she was an active member and served faithfully.
Joan was a wonderful wife and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was loved and will be missed. She is survived by her husband Lorin of Moses Lake, their five children and spouses, 25 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Geraldine Noble and Barbara De Mille and her sister-in-law Eva Berry. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Gary Lee Berry.
The family would like to thank all of their friends and family for their love and support throughout the years. Thanks also to Dr. David Earl, Dr. Allen Quinn and staff for all of the years they have cared for her.
Viewing will be held from 1 to 1:45 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 19 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Rose Street Chapel followed by funeral services at 2 p.m.
