Fire crews contain Monument Hill fire

| August 17, 2017 1:28 PM

QUINCY — Fire crews worked through the night and into the early morning to contain a large wildfire between Quincy and Ephrata. There were no reported injuries, but at least one residence was destroyed.

The fire, which broke out Wednesday night near Monument Hill, was reported to be under control by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office about 7 a.m. this morning. High winds caused the fire quickly spread and mutual aid was requested by Grant County Fire District No. 3. State assistance was also requested and granted to aid crews on the ground.

Level 3 Evacuation notices were sent out by the sheriff’s office for several areas in the direct path of the blaze, but the notices were dropped to a Level 1 Thursday morning. A cause for the fire has not been determined.
