Grant County Economic Development Council names new director

MOSES LAKE — The Grant County Economic Development Council has named Brant Mayo as its new director.

Mayo, a longtime Moses Lake resident who currently heads up the city’s Boys and Girls Club, is expected to begin his new position with Economic Development Council (EDC) on Sept. 12.

“I feel honored to serve our county in this role,” Mayo said in a news release. “The EDS has contributed to many years of success in Grant County and I look forward to building upon that legacy.”

“You would be hard-pressed to find anyone more passionate about our local area than myself,” he added.

As head of the EDC, Mayo will be responsible for working with council members, which includes the county’s ports, cities and businesses, to bring new opportunities and companies to Grant County.

According to LeAnn Parton, president of the EDC, the director’s job is to help companies work through the administrative process — whether that’s the Department of Ecology, or a port, or the public utility district — and make it as easy as possible to locate here.

“He’s the overall shepherd of the process,” she said.

Parton said Mayo was hired because of his lengthy management and leadership experience as well as his deep roots in Grant County.

“He loves the community, and he’s well-connected to the community,” she said.
