EPHRATA — A close Moses Lake City Council Position No. 1 race for the second spot in the November general election has prompted a mandatory recount.
Tuesday morning’s updated ballot count from the Grant County Auditor’s Office has Voth, who was running for Moses Lake City Council Position No. 1, trailing Michael Riggs, who is the leading vote-getter, by 44 votes and Dean Hankins by 10 votes in the race to make it onto the November general election ballot. The close vote total between Hankins and Voth prompted a mandatory recount, which is scheduled for Aug. 28.
Tuesday’s updated ballot count from the Aug. 1 primary put voter turnout at 24.59 percent, as there are 25,384 registered voters in the county and a total of 6,243 ballots were counted.
Results from the ballot count are as follows:
Moses Lake School District Director No. 4
Elliot Goodrich: 1,617 votes, 37.89 percent.
Kevin J. Donovan: 1,870 votes, 43.81 percent.
James Liebrecht: 781 votes, 18.3 percent.
Wilson Creek School District Director No. 5
Ron Lesser: 61 votes, 43.57 percent.
Lane Ribail: 42 votes, 30 percent.
Teresa (Teri) Garay: 37 votes, 26.43 percent.
Grant County Fire District No. 10 Proposition No. 1
Approved: 144 votes, 58.78 percent.
Rejected: 101 votes, 41.22 percent.
Grant County Fire District No. 10 Proposition No. 2
Yes: 172 votes, 69.92 percent.
No: 74 votes, 30.08 percent.
Grant County Fire District No. 11 Proposition No. 1
Approved: 176 votes, 61.97 percent.
Rejected: 108 votes, 38.03 percent.
Grant County Fire District No. 11 Proposition No. 2
Yes: 204 votes, 70.83 percent.
No: 84 votes, 29.17 percent.

Dean Hankins: 751 votes, 32.98 percent.
Todd Voth: 741 votes, 32.54 percent.
Michael Riggs: 785 votes, 34.48 percent.

Ricardo Ruesga: 89 votes, 9.88 percent.

Robert L. Brown: 90 votes, 36.29 percent.
Judith E. Gorman: 69 votes, 27.82 percent.
