Specialty Service Solutions offers a wide range of assistance

MOSES LAKE — Grant County residents in Moses Lake, Ephrata and Soap Lake looking for some extra assistance in their lives are in luck.

Emilie Milburn founded Specialty Service Solutions with just that sentiment in mind — to help.

Milburn, the owner and founder of the business, is a licensed healthcare professional and has held a degree in nuclear medicine for more than 20 years. Milburn described her business as a concierge personalized chore service. She has also worked with the Health Homes program in Grant County.

Milburn, along with her husband Scott, moved to Moses Lake a few years ago after tiring of the “rat race” in Steilacoom.

“I was a social worker here in town providing health home services and saw a need for some type of concierge or personalized service to help individuals that do not qualify for Medicaid and Medicare services so that’s kind of how I created the company was based on that,” Emilie Milburn said. “But then also see a need that children of elderly, they don’t have any respite care. They need somebody just to give them that relief so we do a multitude of services.”

The private nature of Emilie Milburn’s business and the separation from the government and any state-run programs allows for more flexibility for services provided to her clientele. The only limit, according to Specialty Service Solutions literature, is any requests that the owner deems unethical, immoral or any that may be harmful to clients, vendor affiliates or others.

Other than that, it’s up to the person’s imagination. Examples include senior and elder assistance and safety checks, house and pet sitting, grocery and pharmacy shopping, errand and chore services, meal preparation and planning for seniors and assistance with medical visits.

Emilie Milburn recently hired her first employee, Jessica Bergman, after starting the company in January. Bergman has degrees in psychology and children’s studies from Eastern Washington University and has worked in social services within Grant County for five years.

Scott Milburn works more behind the scenes as the director of information services. Scott Milburn served in the Army for 24 years and is a computer programmer.

“We are a group of hardworking professionals that love people and enjoy helping others,” Emilie Milburn said. “We are CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) certified, licensed, bonded and insured. We are passionate about helping others stay well and be independent.

“We believe everyone at one time or another could use a helping hand, whether you are recovering from surgery, or you scheduled too many obligations, we are here for you.”
