| August 9, 2017 3:00 AM

July 10, 1925 — August 6, 2017

Ida M. Borgens peacefully went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017. Ida was born in New Mexico in 1925 to Beatrice and Onesimo Garcia. Ida was the second-oldest daughter of nine children. She grew up on a farm with many fond memories.

When World War II broke out she did her patriotic duty as a “Rosie the Riveter” building B-17 and B-25 bomber aircraft. In 1948 she met and married Reinholdt Borgens and had two children, Beatrice and Ron. After many years of moving about the country Ida and family settled in Pueblo, Colo. where she worked for many years as a nurse’s aide and instrument tech at Saint Mary Corwin Hospital until retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Reinholdt Borgens.

She is survived by her daughter Beatrice (Sam) and son Ron Borgens, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Mamie Donahue (Roger), Mae Harris (Jim) and her brother David (Terry) and by many nieces and nephews.

Heartfelt thanks to the owners and staff of Lakeshore West Residential Care in Moses Lake for the last two years of wonderful care. Also, many thanks to the nurses and doctors (Miller and Smith) at Samaritan Hospital who were very caring in Ida’s final moments.

Funeral services on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017 at Our Lady of Fatima Chapel will be as follows: Rosary at 12:30 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. Cookies and coffee to follow. Please sign the online guestbook at www.kayserschapel.com. Arrangements are in care of Kayser’s Chapel & Crematory.
