Ephrata School District offers screening

EPHRATA — Ephrata School District officials have scheduled screening for children aged 3-5 for parents who might have concerns about the child’s development. Screening is scheduled for Aug. 29, although parents can scheduled appointments monthly throughout the school year.

The service is offered free of charge to district patrons who want to identify possible developmental delays. The screening evaluates children in five areas, speech, language, cognitive ability, motor skills and social skills. The district provides services to children up to age 21 who have developmental delays. “Various living arrangements may also qualify children or youth as eligible for educational services,” according to a press release from the district. Parents or guardians can schedule a screening appointment by calling the district’s special services department, 509-754-3538.
