Desert Aire man injured in Mattawa collision
MATTAWA — A Desert Aire man was allegedly intoxicated when he went off of a road near Mattawa in the wee hours of Sunday morning and crashed into a power pole.
About 12:30 a.m. David Millan Gatica, 31, of Desert Aire, was driving a Mitsubishi Gallant south on state Route 243, near Mattawa, when he reportedly left the road to the right. The Mitsubishi reportedly rolled and came to a rest after striking a power pole, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Millan Gatica was injured in the collision and transported to Kadlec Medical Center in Richland for treatment. The Mitsubishi was totaled in the collision and impounded.
The patrol determined the cause of the collision was Millan Gatica driving while intoxicated. Millan Gatica was cited for DUI, driving without a valid operator’s license and driving without insurance.
