MOSES LAKE — Camille Carpenter set two personal records at Moses Lake’s home meet, en route to a second-place finish in the 200 and first-place finish in the 400.

Carpenter was less than two-tenths of a second behind teammate Morgan Skone, who took first place, in the 200. In the 400, Carpenter was able to pull away from Eisenhower’s Erica Simison and teammate Morgan Yamane to win by over one second.

In her quest for a state championship, senior Elly Johnson set a season record in the discus with a throw of 129 feet, six inches. Yamane won the high jump with a leap of four feet, eight inches.

In the boys’ competition, Draven Nevarez won the javelin comfortably. His toss of 186 feet, one inch was almost 30 feet farther than the second-place mark.

Joey Robertson finished a close second behind Eisenhower’s Moise Cook in the 400.

Moses Lake fourth in Yakima

YAKIMA — Charley Sanislo finished fifth overall with a score of 100 and Moses Lake finished in fourth place at Yakima Country Club.

The scores were a bit higher due to blustery winds and the cold weather.

Payton Erdmann was right behind Sanislo in sixth place with a 102. McKenna Holman and Kendall Sandhop carded 142 and 136, respectively.

Wenatchee finished first in the team standings.

4 Basin athletes recognized by WIAA
