School bond tactics were manipulative

| April 27, 2017 3:00 AM

I am aghast at the efforts some of the school community and school board will go to extract funds from the taxpayer. The bond has been put up for three elections and every time has been rejected until the last election when the results were manipulated by the school district. It was probably legal to phone “yes” voters and encourage them to validate their ballots while ignoring “no” voters, but is it morally correct?

I attended the “visioning session” on Wednesday evening, April 19, at the CB Technical Skills Center and was again shocked to see how the “no” voter was manipulated but it was all very professional. Was the meeting set up according to the Delphi technique?

Area farmers are presently enduring their third year of a crushing economic crisis. Farmers totally appreciate a good education for all students and affirm the crowded environment at the high school. Most farmers prefer adding a new building at the high school campus for ninth-graders. Farmers as taxpayers are willing to make a 20-year financial sacrifice to support the lower-priced bond but not a Taj Mahal high school in a poor location that divides our beloved community.
