Ralph Grady Moore
October 12, 1959 – April 18, 2017
Ralph Grady Moore, 57, a resident of Moses Lake, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 with his loving wife by his side.
Ralph was born October 12, 1959, in Colville, Wash. He and his nine brothers and sisters were raised in Ephrata, Wash. He was born an athlete, playing many sports. Baseball, however, was his passion, coached by Dave Johnson and Marty O’Brien whom he respected and admired immensely. He pitched his way through junior high and high school all the way to the state championships. Graduating from Ephrata high school in 1977, Ralph received a scholarship to play ball at Yakima Community College. His time on the mound was cut short due to a shoulder injury. He subsequently moved to California with his lifelong friend Terry Fordham, starting a career as a drywall contractor.
In 1989 he welcomed his daughter Desiree to the world, moving back to Washington to be closer to family. Once he moved back he stated his first business, Columbia Drywall. He worked long hard hours to make his business a success, spending all his spare time with his daughter. He financed all aspects of her softball career and they went on numerous vacations especially Hawaii (his favorite place to relax).
In 2008 he met and married the love of his life, Jeanette. He was there to share in the birth of four of his grandchildren. All of them call him “Papa Ralph.” Despite finding out he was ill after being diagnosed with congestive heart failure, nothing brought Ralph more joy than playing with his grandkids Carter, Xander, Stella and Abcde at the park, though he wished that his other two granddaughters lived closer so he could enjoy time with them also.
He spent his last years enjoying life by listening to music, dancing every night as we vowed to each other to do, golfing, gardening and exercising. He is survived by his wife Jeanette; daughter Desiree (Tim) Urpman and their two children; bonus children Justin McDowall, Melissa (Josh) McDowall Blackwell and their daughter, Traci (Jon) Redford and their three children, and his nine siblings. He is preceded in death by his mother Isabel Moore and lifelong friend Sheldon Isreal (Izzy).
A celebration of his life will be held at Nicoles Funeral Home, Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at 1 p.m. in Ephrata, Wash. Viewing will be held prior to the service from 12 to 1. Please express your thoughts and memories for the family at www.nicolesfuneralhome.com.
