Moses Lake High School starts recognition program
MOSES LAKE — About 450 Moses Lake High School students were treated recently to root beer floats as part of a recognition of good attendance. It’s part of a district-wide program to use random acts of recognition to promote positive behavior.
The high school held a competition April 19 to see which class had the highest percentage of students at school for the day, won by the sophomores. Teachers, administrators, counselors and secretaries dished up the floats.
“This is a new thing” at the high school, said dean of students Shane Kinkaid. The idea is to reinforce positive behavior – all kinds of positive behavior. To that end, teachers and administrators will randomly recognize students who are acting in positive ways.
"A lot of fun," Kinkaid said.
“We’ll be doing different things” in recognition, Kinkaid added.
