2 arrested in Soap Lake burglary

SOAP LAKE — Two suspects in a series of burglaries at a residence north of Soap Lake were taken into custody on Wednesday.

According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy kept watch at a residence in the 22000 block of state Route 17 Wednesday morning after the residence had been burglarized the two previous nights. About 6 a.m. a car pulled up to the residence, a person opened up a secured gate and the vehicle was driven up to the residence. The car was stopped by the deputy at the scene as it left the residence, according to the sheriff’s office.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Brenda Starcher, 44, of Soap Lake, was arrested. The passenger, identified as Daniel Coreas, 26, of Soap Lake, fled the scene on foot. Deputies, officers with the Ephrata Police Department and K-9 deputy Grizzly searched the area.

A passerby later told deputies they witnessed a person who matched Coreas’ description get into a vehicle that was heading north on SR-17, toward Coulee City. The vehicle was located near Moore Road Northeast and Coreas, who was a passenger in the car, was arrested. Starcher and Coreas were booked into the Grant County Jail for investigation of second-degree burglary.
