Elizabeth Betsy Landes

January 25, 1945 – April 13, 2017

Elizabeth Betsy Landes, of Evans, Wash., passed away April 13, 2017 in Spokane, Washington. She was born Jan. 25, 1945 to William and Karma Schmalz in Ogden, Utah.

As a young girl she lived in Salt Lake City, Seattle and Warden, Wash. She was a graduate of Warden High School, the University of Utah with a B.A. in Nursing and the University of Washington with an M.S. in Nursing and PNP. She married Richard D. Landes on July 21, 1981 and they moved to the Colville, Wash. area in 1992.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Dale Landes of Evans, Wash.; her children Mary Ellen Wimer, Vickie Lynn Bennett, Julia Ann Sisler and Danial H. Landes; her brother, Charles Schmalz (JoAnn) North Ogden, Utah; her sister Kathryn Rackham (James) Moses Lake, Wash.; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Jason Landes in 1984.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Spokane Children’s Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at The Colville AG Center. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Colville. Lauer Funeral Home, Deer Park, Wash. is in charge of arrangements.
