K-9 Edo joins Grant County Sheriff's Office
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office has a new addition to its K-9 Unit program: Edo, a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois from the Netherlands. Edo (pronounced EE-doe) and his partner, Deputy Tyson Voss, will be attending a 10-week basic K-9 school in Spokane beginning April 17.
Edo was purchased and selected from Vohne Liche Kennels in Indiana, a leading vendor in providing strong and social police and military dogs.
After testing 35 dogs, Edo was chosen at the conclusion of a three-day selection process by Deputy Voss and his instructor, former Spokane County Deputy Bob Bond. Upon graduation, Edo will join K-9 Grizzly and K-9 Chicka on patrol.
“The Grant County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit has been funded almost entirely by the donations and support of Grant County citizens,” Sheriff Tom Jones said. “We are grateful for all the support and generosity which made a dream a reality.”
Donations to the Grant County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit can be made though the Columbia Basin Foundation website.
