Deanna Leigh Chapman July 2, 1956 - March 30, 2017

Our beloved mother, Deanna Leigh Chapman, 60, passed away on March 30, 2017, after battling cancer. She was blessed to have all of her children present on her final day.

Deanna was born on July 2, 1956, in Scottsbluff, Neb. to Fred and Betty Miller. Her family nickname was “DeeDee.” She lived in Lyman, Neb. before she moved with her parents and six brothers to Othello in January 1965. She graduated from Othello High School in 1974.

Deanna moved to the Spokane area where she had eight children, six boys and two girls, which includes one set of twins. She moved back to Othello in 2001, where she raised her four youngest. She was a paraprofessional for the Othello School District for 12 years. She was very devoted to her children and grandchildren but also to all her students.

She loved spending time with her eight children but also her fifteen grandchildren. Deanna would light up when her grandchildren would come to see her and she would spoil them rotten. Her favorite time with her grandkids was eating popcorn. The kids knew when they came to Grandma’s house they would get popcorn. Her favorite time of the day was sitting outside and watching the sunset.

Deanna was a big part of all her children’s and grandchildren’s lives. She also made a big difference in her students lives as well. She had the biggest heart in the world and she loved everyone she came to know. She will be deeply missed by her children and her family. Deanna’s final generous act was to give the gift of sight through cornea donation.

She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Betty Miller. Deanna is survived by her eight children Grady Jr. (Nikki) Chapman, Devin Chapman, DeLeigh Chapman (DeeDee), Daylen (Lesly) Chapman, Sage Hines (Navil Escarcega-Chavarin), Levi Hines, Kendrick Mellinger (McKenzi Maple) and Samantha Hines (Fabian Reyes) and 15 grandchildren Jameson, Parker, Cooper, Marshall, Tristan, Shylee, Tahiri, Lumiya, Leila, Alexis, Alexander, Xavier, Giselle, Paizlee, and Jeniah. She is also survived by her brothers; Fred (Bev) Miller, David Miller, Don (Jackie) Miller, Ron (Susan) Miller, Larry (Kellie) Miller, and Garry Miller.

A memorial service to celebrate Deanna’s life is being held at the Othello Nazarene Church located at 835 S. 10th Ave, Othello, Wash. at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2017.
