Columbia Basin roundup: Big Bend's McCord player of the year
MOSES LAKE — Jacob McCord ended his sensational sophomore season at Big Bend by being named the 2017 Baden NWAC Men's Basketball Player of the Year.
McCord averaged a double-double of 25.6 points and 12 rebounds per game; both numbers ranked No. 1 in the NWAC.
McCord's season-high in points was 43 and rebounds was 21. He was held to single digits once in 30 games and grabbed 10 or more rebounds in 20.
McCord is headed to Idaho State University in the fall.
Spokane's Bri King was the women's player of the year. King led Spokane to an NWAC Championship and averaged 18 points per game. King is Spokane's all-time leading scorer with 1,175 points.

Soap Lake 10, Manson 0
MANSON — Jackson Gray pitched a complete game and Soap Lake routed Manson 10-0.
The win kept the Eagles solidified in second place.
Lex Piedra and Gray each had two hits. Brayden Winters doubled twice and had two hits.
Warden 2, Chelan 1
CHELAN — Kaden Skone's sacrifice bunt in the eighth inning was the catalyst to score the go-ahead run and Warden beat Chelan 2-1.
Edgar Hernandez had an RBI single and switch-hitter Wade Visker was 3-for-4. Ryan Arredondo added two hits.
Quincy 10, Prosser 7
QUINCY — Quincy earned its second league win at Prosser 10-7.
Selah 8, Ephrata 0
SELAH — CWAC power Selah shut out Ephrata 8-0.
Cole Spencer had the Tigers' lone hit.
Softball
Moses Lake 20, Davis 1
YAKIMA — There was no spring break rust as Moses Lake trounced Davis 20-1.
Brooke Richardson was 4-for-5 with two singles, a double and a home run.
Moses Lake broke the game open with eight runs in the second inning. Richardson, Paige Valdez and Savannah Ashley had RBI singles. Michelle Turner hit an RBI triple.
Gina Skinner went five innings, allowing one run on four hits.
Moses Lake (3-1, 3-3) hosts Davis Friday at Larson Field.
Boys soccer
Othello 4, Selah 1
OTHELLO — Othello head coach Bernie Garza moved Reese Jones and Bernie Garza Jr. to forward after halftime and his adjustment paid dividends.
Jones scored a hat trick and Othello (2-2, 7-3) beat Selah 4-1.
Chris Alfaro got the Huskies on the board in the first half.
Eisenhower 4, Moses Lake 2
YAKIMA — Anthony Cortez scored twice, but Moses Lake lost to Eisenhower 4-2.
The Chiefs pushed to tie the game in the second half before the Cadets were awarded a “questionable” penalty kick and built a two-goal lead.
Royal 1, Connell 0
ROYAL CITY — Royal picked up a much-needed win against Connell 1-0.
Juan Ojeda scored off an assist from Michael Rojas in the 55th minute for the game's lone goal.
Strong defense by the Knights limited the Eagles to eight total shots.
Grandview 5, Ephrata 1
EPHRATA — Ephrata lost to Grandview 5-1.
Head coach Ivan Garay called the Greyhounds the most complete team he's faced.
Calvin Mizner scored the Tigers' lone goal in the first half.
Quincy 1, Prosser 0
PROSSER — Quincy improved to 3-1 in league play with a 1-0 win against Prosser.

Ephrata completes sweep of Wapato
WAPATO — Ephrata girls tennis blanked Wapato 5-0 and the boys won 4-1.
“Overall, it was a slow start for most of our teams,” head coach Missy Beierman said. “It took a bit to get the rust off from spring break.”
The Tigers won all five matches in straight sets in the girls' competition.

Othello takes two from Prosser
OTHELLO — The Othello girls (6-1, 2-1 CWAC) defeated Prosser 4-1 to improve in the CWAC standings, winning all three doubles matches in straight sets. Tanaya Andersen and Katie Walker remained undefeated this year with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 1 doubles. Daishawn Roylance and Macy Hampton won at No. 2 doubles and Janae Freeman won at Jenny Walker three doubles.
The Othello boys improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the CWAC with a 5-0 victory. Singles players Levi Garza and Palani Barragan both won three-set matches to lead the Huskies. Garza defeated Isaias Valasquez, 6-0, 4-6, 6-1 and Barragan bested Peter Felicijan 3-6, 6-0, 6-1.

Huskies win in Grandview
GRANDVIEW — Husky freshman Patrick Azevedo had the putter going on Tuesday, shooting a 4-over-par 76 to lead the Othello boys golf team to its best team score in the past four years at the CWAC match at Blackrock Creek Golf Course in Grandview.
The Huskies won the competition with a score of 340 for a team record. Ben Garza shot 82. Isaiah Garza came in with 85, Sam Azevedo carded 97 and Jon Ozuna finished with at 109.
Girls golf
Valdez leads Othello with 102
OTHELLO — Daisy Valdez shot a 102 to finish as the Othello girls low score at the CWAC girls match at the Othello Golf Club. Edith Reyes finished with 131, Taylor Cass came in at 150. Margarita Solorio carded 157 and Alyson Shade 156.
Selah had the low team score with 397, Prosser (534) and Othello (539) were second and third, respectively.
