Wilda Roxana Hunt March 31, 1917 - March 26, 2017
Wilda Roxana Hunt was born March 31, 1917 to John W. (Bud) Harris and Jenna Cook Harris at Burley, Idaho. She had one brother, Dwight.
During her early childhood they lived on a cattle ranch and she rode a horse to an eight-room country school. Later the family moved to Glenns Ferry, Idaho and then to Wendell, Idaho where she graduated from high school.
Roxana attended S & C and earned a teaching degree. Her first school was a two-room country school near Filer, Idaho. She also taught at Victory School in Filer.
On June 20, 1940 Roxana married Robert E. (Bob) Hunt in Twin Falls, Idaho. They lived and farmed near Burley, Idaho and had two children, Lynn and Leeann, in the early 1950s. She went back to teaching at Overland School in Burley, Idaho.
In January 1956 the family moved to Othello and Roxana began a 23-year teaching career at Hiawatha School. Bob leveled land and farmed southeast of Othello where they made their home. In the 1950s she attended and received a degree from W.C.E.
Roxana was an active member in the Othello Christian Church for more than fifty years. She was a member of Ruth Rebekah Lodge, Buddy Andrews Guild and Retired Teachers, and was a member of the Grange since 1940. She enjoyed reading, crafts, making quilts, travel and spending time with family. Bob and Roxana spent twenty-four winters in Arizona where they were active in a Baptist church and the Historical Society. They traveled and did many activities with family and friends during those winter months.
She is preceded in death by her father, mother, brother, daughter Leeann, and husband, Bob. She is survived by her son Lynn (Lois) Hunt, Othello, Wash., her son-in-law Don Ham, eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
