Gary C. 'Ozzie' Osburn

Gary C. “Ozzie” Osburn was born Dec. 28, 1941, to Gladys Alberta Roberts and Robert D. Osburn in Missoula, Mont. The youngest of four children, Gary and his siblings Robert “Bud,” Dixie and Irene grew up in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana.

His family moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho in 1956, where his parents purchased the Craft & Hobby Shop on Sherman Avnue. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1959, completed basic training in the summer before his senior year, and began active duty right after graduating from high school in 1960. He served on the USS Ticonderoga monitoring weather. After his discharge in June 1962, he served six years in the Navy Reserve.

He and Sharon “Sheri” Johnson were married in the LDS Idaho Falls Temple on Nov. 29, 1962. They made their home in Moses Lake, Wash. for 38 years before moving to Meridian, Idaho in 2005.

He passed away March 28, 2017, following an 11-year battle with cancer. He is survived by Sheri, his sweetheart of 54 years; his daughters Lisa Pettit (Richard) and Rebecca Buss (Alan) and his son Steven; a sister Irene Potter; eight grandchildren, one great-grandson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at the LDS Stake Center, 1985 N Blackcat Rd, Meridian, Idaho on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11 a.m. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m.

A graveside service and burial will be at CDA Memorial Gardens, 7315 N. Government Way, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho on April 10, 2017 at 11 a.m.
