ROYAL CITY – The Annual United Methodist Church spaghetti feed has been scheduled for Oct. 13, with proceeds going toward the installation of a lift for better handicap accessibility.

The United Methodist congregation will co-host with the Templo De Fe Church, which shares the church building.

The spaghetti feed will be held at the Royal City Community Center at 13702 Dodson Rd. S (Golf Course). Dinner will be served from 5-8 p.m.

“We have extended our hours of serving to 8 p.m. so farmers and farm workers who are busy harvesting can come and eat before calling it a day,” Methodist Church member Alice Parker said. “Please feel free to come straight from the field, and don’t worry about going home to clean up first.”

The menu is not spaghetti only. It includes chili, chili dogs, hot dogs, salad, corn bread, ice cream, lemonade, coffee and tea.

There is no charge for the chili feed, but the church hopes diners will leave contributions to the cause.

The United Methodist Church is sharing its church building with the Templo De Fe Church for that congregation’s church services.

“We are now joining forces to sponsor our annual Community Chili Feed,” Alice said.

When the lift project is completed, additional maintenance projects will be undertaken. The church was built in the 1960s. Maintenance is needed to keep the building sound and functional for uses and needs of the community.
