OTHELLO – The annual Father-Daughter Ball, which is a major fund-raiser for Othello’s Distinguished Young Women Program, has been set for Saturday, Oct. 8.

But it’s not just for fathers. Grandfathers and uncles are encouraged to bring their princess. The theme is “We’re Goin’ Country.”

The dance will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Othello High School Corridor. The high school is located at 340 S. 7th Ave.

There are various ways funds are raised for the DYW Program. One is an admission charge of $10 person to the dance.

There will be hayrides every 15 minutes at $2.50 per person. Photographs will be made and mailed at $6 each.

Meanwhile tickets are on sale for the raffling of a Cinderella Carriage ride for five at $1 per ticket. That is a Cinderella ride to the ball.

There will be two winners, drawn on Oct. 6. Tickets are available with Wendy Risenmay at Basin Insurance Associates. You may call her at 488-2442 or 488-5787.

Proceeds from the Father-Daughter Ball go to support the scholarships won by DYW contestants each year.

Renee Jensen is president of the Othello DYW Program. Board members are Wendy Risenmay, Debbie Haworth, Emily Bass, Jordelle Lovell, Martha Logan, Shawna Scorup, Celia Hesselroth, Raun Jensen, Don Logan and Lorraine Walker.
