Mom was born November 16, 1920, in Dryden to John and Mary Hoff Isaak.

She had nine brothers and sisters: Gordon, John, Ione, Florence, Viola, Eva, Harold, Carl and Alvin. Her mother died when she was 18 months old and she went to live with her mother’s parents John and Mark Hoff, and her mother’s seven brothers and sisters. She attended high school in Odessa and married Herbert Martin Sackmann in 1939. They lived on the Sackmann dry land wheat farm 15 miles south of Odessa and raised a daughter and three sons. Dad died in 1972, and Mom moved to a condo in Spokane. She was involved in the Spokane Club, ballroom dancing, Deaconess Hospital, walking and fitness and traveled extensively to Egypt, Africa, Japan, Australia, etc. She traveled to the Midwest and East visiting relatives and tracing her family ancestry. Her children also loved to vacation with Mother, in Alaska, Mexico, Kauai and even gunk holing up the Inland Passage through Canada to Alaska in a 20-foot boat or 28-foot catamaran. She moved to Othello in 2009 age 89.

Her surviving children and their families are:

Daughter Sandy Moody, teacher, B & B operator in Twisp and husband Bill, smokejumper and fire fighting consultant, their son Mike and wife Soo and two boys and daughter Mary Katherine;

Son Steve, attorney in Othello and wife Jackie, legal assistant, and daughter Robyn, and three children, daughter Nikki and husband Darren and two children, son Brandon and wife Kat and two boys and son Cedar.

Son James, CPA, CFO retired in Selah, his daughter Michelle and husband Bryan, and two children and one boy, son Jason and partner Angie, and two children and daughter Jessica, dental assistant, and husband Chris, coach and P.E. teacher, and three children.

Mother was preceded in death by her youngest son Jack due to cancer. Mom was a great mother, elegant, positive and fun. We all miss her very much. An informal celebration of her life is planned for Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Othello Golf Course, W Bench Rd, Othello. Wash. 1 to 4 p.m. with buffet served at 1:30 p.m. Mom will be interred at the Odessa Cemetery with her husband and son in a private ceremony. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be given to Old Time Fiddlers, 23 Road M NE, Moses Lake, WA 99837 or Coventry House Assisted Living, 430 N. 2nd Ave., Othello, WA 99344.
