OTHELLO – Micah Giles of Othello has chosen a compassionate Eagle Scout project that gives community members a chance help hospitalized children.

A senior at Othello High School, Giles, 18, plans to collect 200 stuffed animals or more for Othello Community Hospital. They would be intended for children who need OCH’s services.

Giles’s goal is to have the 200 stuffed animals collected by the time his project is complete. He is asking community members to drop off their donations at several places.

“We’d like them to be gently used or new,” he said.

There are collection boxes now at the LDS Stake Center at 14th and Rainier in Othello and the LDS Seventh Avenue building. The best days to leave stuffed animals at those locations are Wednesdays and Sundays.

From Sept. 14-17, Giles will have a collection box at the entrance to the Adams County Fair. Giles and some Scouting buddies will man another collection at Walmart on Sept 10 and 17.

They will be there from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a break from 12 to l p.m.
