James 'Jim' Andrew Moore

In the afternoon of Aug. 21, 2016, Jim passed away peacefully in his sleep from natural causes at Fairwood Retirement Village in Spokane, Wash. Jim was 74 years old.

Jim Moore was born in Spokane on Nov. 9, 1941. He was the second child, and first son, of Louise M. and James Alexander Moore.

The son of a Methodist reverend, he spent his grade school years in Omak, Wash., and then attended North Central High School in Spokane where he enjoyed football. Some time after this, Jim Moore attended a service and answered the altar call, walking to the front and giving his life to the Lord. Jim attended seminary in Washington, D.C. where he met his wife Vivian Davis. His group “Dust and Ashes” would travel the country for a year sharing the gospel in music.

Jim left “Dust and Ashes” and settled down with Vivian at Blue Lake in Central Washington. They had two sons, Jonathan and Joshua. Through his ministry “Jim Moore Creative Ministries” he appeared as guest artist/preacher at churches across the Northwest for over 40 years. He also was active in his community as a volunteer firefighter. He also coached the pole vault at Ephrata High School. He retired to Blue Lake where he led summer services. He believed that knowing Jesus is the best thing that can ever happen to a person, and it is not a religion, but a relationship to be enjoyed.

In 2014 he moved to Spokane to be near family. He continued to play guitar and to sing to the other residents and staff members for as long as he was able, and to the day of his death his calm and sincere smile could still endear people to him. He is preceded in death by his mother and father Louise and James Alexander Moore, and his oldest sister, Anita Moore.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian, two sons Jonathan and Joshua; sisters Bonnie J. Hembt and Marilyn F. Sarber and four grandchildren Darian, Blake, Micaiah, and Selah. A graveside service was held at Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery in Spokane, and a memorial service celebrating his life and entrance into Glory will be held Sept. 25 at 3 p.m. at Northview Bible Church in Spokane, Wash.
