New app allows viewers to watch TV anywhere

The world just took a new turn with an updated DirecTV app that lets you watch live and recorded television programs anywhere.

The new Data Free TV app puts the world of television at its viewers fingertips, and better still, it doesn’t count against their data package.

“Our customers want to take their TVs with them, and our new DIRECTV App allows just that,” said David Christopher, chief marketing officer of AT&T Entertainment Group. “You can get the content you want, when you want it. Your living room channels and your recorded content with you, anywhere you go.”

The app allows customers to stream live channels, stream recorded programs and view recorded programs.

“You can instantly move the show that you were watching on your mobile device to your TV and continue watching seamlessly,” Christopher said.

The channels available for live streaming are tied to your package selection and may vary by location. To download, must be in-home on same Wi-Fi network connected to DVR. Certain programming cannot be downloaded.

All Data Free TV has to stream through DirecTV or U-verse App and access varies by package.

Here’s what you need:

• A DirecTV subscription

• The DirecTV App (available on iOS)

• Genie HD DVR 44 with a home internet connection
