Grant County Sheriff seeks robbery suspects

GEORGE – As of Friday, Grant County Sheriff’s deputies are still asking the public for help in identifying two men who robbed a George-area convenience store at gunpoint on Monday, Aug. 15.

Two men entered Midway Mart, at 16010 Road 1 NW, about one mile east of George, at 6 a.m. Locals also know this convenience store as “Murphy’s Corner” Shell station.

The GCSO reported that one of the men was armed with a handgun, which he pointed at the cashier while demanding money. The two men fled after getting an undisclosed amount of cash from the drawer.

One is described as male, possibly white, mid-20s, 5-8 and heavier set, red bandanna covering bottom portion of face, baggy black hoodie, gray sweat pants, black gloves, and black Nike shoes.

The second suspect is described as a white male, mid-20s, 5-8, black shoes, blue jeans with red bandanna in back left pocket, dark gray baggy sweater, black clothing covering bottom of his face, white gloves, armed with a black baseball bat.

No vehicle was seen, and the suspects’ direction of travel was unknown.
