OTHELLO — Parents who are having to re-route themselves taking their children to Wahitis Elementary School because of road construction will enjoy relief some time in November.

According to City Administrator Wade Farris, the 14th Ave. project is scheduled to be completed the first week of November. However, considering the time of year, he said that projection could be a little off, depending on weather conditions.

Whatever date the work is completed, parents of Wahitis students should be happy with the results. The street will be widened, with center turn lane and “turn pockets.”

The project includes new water and sewer lines, new storm drains, parallel parking lanes on both sides and ADA-compliant sidewalks. There will be a school access for buses and one for cars.
