FFA and 4-H members will be on hand to show sheep and other animals.

OTHELLO — It won’t be long until the exhibits, the food, the animals, the contests and the entertainment of the Adams County Fair. It will be celebrated the weekend of Sept. 14-16.

The fair theme this year will be Boots, Chaps ‘n Cowboys Hats, according to publicist and Vice President Val Watson, who noted the fair board has been working hard all year bring the community another great family fair.

“We would like to welcome all of you to come out to see what’s been happening at the fair since last year,” she said. “Once you get to the fair, you will smell all those wonderful things in the air which bring back those memories that you can get only during the fair.”

Admission to the Adams County Fair will be $7 for adults, $5 for seniors and youths (7-11), and children 6 and under will enter free of charge. Admission for the run of the fair will be $21 for adults, $15 for youths and seniors, and children 6 and under will enter free of charge.

Davis Shows will provide the carnival. All-day tickets will cost $21 before the fair and $26 at the fair. The smells of which Watson speaks are the carnival food, the animals that youths will be showing, all the different non-carnival food booths. Other fair mainstays to enjoy are the contests, the carnival rides, the entertainment and more.

Watson noted there are new features at the fair. The livestock board made some selfie features from the Looney Tunes days.

“Some of you may remember those cartoon days. Some of you won’t know, but it will be so much fun to come and take a picture or selfie with the cut-out face on the cartoon character,” Watson said.

The Adams County Fair will have a new food booth for you to try. One of that booth’s features will be deep-fried mac ‘n cheese.

The Adams County Fair has acquired a new ticket booth and dressing room/storage unit from Old Hickory Barns.

New entertainment this year will be Cale Moon. The Nashville recording artist will be here Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Also making a comeback will be Predators of the Heart. They were brought back by popular demand.

Out in the horse arena on Friday night, the Draft Horse Pull will start at 5 p.m. The Sequins & Spurs Drill Team will perform on Friday night at 6 p.m. On Saturday, Dusty Roller Clinic will be back to the Fair at 1 p.m.

Additional entertainment will be one-man band Eric Haines, Adam the Great, Frank Rendon/Mutton Bustin’, a mechanical bull and Lanky the Clown.

“Don’t forget that old favorite, the pie eating contest, and the Diaper Derby,” Watson said.

New this year will be a sawhorse contest at the poultry barn. You may want to be a part of that. Just ask.

“Don’t forget about seeing all your friends out there and catching up to make some new memories,” Watson said. “Nothing like a great fair to have a good time visiting old and making new friends.”
