Tricks and treats Take your pick of Halloween events

COLUMBIA BASIN — Trick-or-treating, stray mazes and ‘trunk-or-treats’ are among the plethora of Halloween events being offered in the coming days. Dust off your costume and be a kid again, even if it’s just for a few hours.

Moses Lake

Downtown Trick-or-Treat: The event will be located in the downtown area along Third Avenue and at Sinkuise Square Halloween night from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. For more information contact the Moses Lake Business Association at 509-764-1745.

Moses Lake High School Trick-or-Treat: Moses Lake High School, 803 E. Sharon Ave., will be open from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for children ages 2-10 for trick-or-treating. Canned food donations will be accepted to benefit the Moses Lake Food Bank. Coins will be accepted as well to benefit UNICEF. Pictures will be offered by the Kiwanis Club of Moses Lake and the MLHS Key Club.

Halloween Party at Grocery Outlet: Grocery Outlet, 1177 N. Stratford Rd., will be having their 15th annual Halloween party from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event features carnival games, prizes, a cake walk and, of course, candy.

Othello

The Adams County Fairgrounds will host a straw maze on Friday and Saturday nights before Halloween from 6-7 (non-scary version) and 7-10 p.m. (scary version). Tickets for the maze are $5, and anyone needing more information can call 509-488-2604.

The LDS Church at 1200 E. Ranier Ave. will host a “Trunk-or-Treat” beginning at 6:45 p.m. on Halloween, and organizers request that trunk-or-treaters not wear masks.

First Presbyterian at 715 E. Scootney St. is also hosting a “Trunk-or-Treat” beginning at 5 p.m.

Sunny Farms will have a pumpkin patch open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and 1-6 p.m. on Sunday.

Country Cousins at 1901 W. Hatton Rd. will have a corn maze, straw mountain, corn pit, a hay maze, and a giant pumpkin patch from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $4 for ages 3-7 and $7 for everyone else.

Quincy

The Quincy Valley Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a downtown trick or treat on Halloween from 4-5:30 p.m. The city is closing downtown streets as well. For more information, call the Chamber of Commerce at 509-787-2140.

Ephrata

The Chamber of Commerce’s annual Halloween trick-or-treat walk will be taking place between 4:00- 6:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, at participating downtown businesses. Many stores will also be open late for shopping on Monday night. More information on these events can be found on the Chamber of Commerce website.

The American Legion will be hosting a “Trunk-or-Treat,” kids games, and costume contest at the Legion Post on 276 8th Ave NW from 5:30-7 p.m. on Halloween.

The United Methodist Church at 117 C-Street NW will be hosting a “Trunk-or-Treat” also on Monday from 4-6 p.m.

Columbia Basin Hospital will offer free X-rays of candy from 5-8 p.m. on Halloween as well at the hospital.

Soap Lake

Soap Lake Police Department Trunk-or-Treat: The SLPD will be holding a trunk-or-treat event at four different locations around Soap Lake Halloween night starting at 4 p.m.

The four locations are as follows:

The parking lot in between the Soap Lake Middle/High School and the Soap Lake Elementary School

The Soap Lake Police Department, 239 2nd Ave SE.

North Daisy Street and East Main Avenue.

John’s Foods, 115 S. Daisy St.

Living Nightmare Haunted House: The Living Nightmare Haunted House, 19426 Lakeview Pl., will be open Oct. 28, 29 and Halloween night from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. for children and from 7 p.m. until organizers decide to close for people ages 13 and up. Admission is a donation to the Grant County Animal Outreach. Hot chocolate and apple cider will be provided. For more information visit www.facebook.com/events/873922849418990.

Ritzville

The Toddler Trick or Treat Walk is scheduled for 2 to 5 p.m. Halloween afternoon. Kids and parents can go trick-or-treating at participating businesses; Toddler Trick or Treat is for children ages 5 and younger. A map of participating businesses is available at Ritzville City Hall.

Wilson Creek

The Wilson Creek High School FBLA chapter will sponsor a Halloween Carnival from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the school cafeteria, 400 Navar St. The carnival will feature “games, snacks and prizes,” and “parents are welcome to stay and enjoy the carnival too,” according to the school website. The carnival is geared to all kids through the sixth grade.
