Washington State Supreme Court voting

| October 27, 2016 1:00 AM

Over the years in voting, many of us have not known whom to vote for in judicial elections because we often didn’t know the people running, what they stood for and/or how they might act as judges.

Over the past couple of years, it has been evident that our current State Supreme Court judges have gone far beyond their responsibilities and nowhere is this more evident as in the McCleary decision wherein the court ruled that the Legislature had not provided “enough money for education.” Apparently they have ignored the separation of powers doctrine and have attempted to insert themselves into the legislative process. Clearly, this is beyond their authority and now seem to be insisting that we need a state income tax in order to meet their ruling.

Whereas judges typically run unopposed, fortunately this year we have some choices. I support three men for Supreme Court to help get the court back on track and within their constitutionally authorized job description. Greg Zempel, David DeWolf, and Dave Larson will be judges who follow the constitution as written. They do not believe in “judicial activism”. In other words, they believe in the idea that judges should interpret the law versus the issue facing them, not attempt to rewrite it to their own specifications.

So, this year, we have choices and I encourage citizens to study McCleary and its history and then vote for Greg Zemple, David DeWold and Dave Larson. By doing so, you will be supporting and upholding the constitution as written.

Now and forever, “pushing back the frontiers of ignorance.”
