Girls conference planned for Nov. 5
MOSES LAKE – Soroptimist International of Moses Lake will host a day-long conference, Dream It, Be It – Career Conference, for girls on Saturday, Nov. 5 at CBTech.
Senator Judy Warnick, 13th District, will welcome the girls with an inspirational message about her journey to pursue her dreams. Additionally, women from a variety of professional backgrounds, educations, and experiences will be volunteering their time to share their stories and provide guidance to girls in attendance.
Those students who attend will learn about career opportunities, setting and achieving goals and overcoming obstacles to success.
Throughout the day, the girls will participate in interactive sessions based on an array topics. They will participate in a mentoring lunch with opportunities to ‘Ask the Expert’ in many fields.
“The skills developed through the day can be applied to any goals the girls identify throughout their education and careers,” said Bea Lucio, president, Soroptimist International Moses Lake.
“The girls will also have the opportunity to speak with working women in a variety of careers and perhaps arrange a mentorship with a woman whose career interests them,” added Veronica Bradley, Dream It, Be It committee co-chair.
Raffle prizes and awards will be given throughout the day. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be served. Admission will be free. Deadline to register is October 25. You may register at www.DIBI2016.eventbrite.com.
Women interested in volunteering are asked to contact Carrie Nordberg at simoseslake@soroptimist.net.
