Big Bend drops a pair of matches

Big Bend volleyball lost back-to-back matches to Walla Walla and Treasure Valley.

Friday at home, the Vikings had upset on their mind against the first-place Warriors. The Vikings (0-12, 1-26) stunned the Warriors and won the first set 25-18 before ultimately losing in four sets 18-25, 25-12, 25-14, 25-14.

Outside hitter Lindsay Sorensen led the attack with a team-high 11 kills. Sorensen added 11 digs.

Jacinda Fansher and Nelly Korneychuk recorded nine and eight kills, respectively. After a slow start, Walla Walla (11-0, 23-6) received double digit kills from Lindsey Carpenter, Morgan Ness, Savannah Ruark and Samantha Grove.

Big Bend was swept at Treasure Valley (2-9, 9-17) on Saturday 25-12, 26-24, 25-21.

Fansher and Sorensen led the Vikings with five kills each. Big Bend struggled to slow down Treasure Valley’s Elisha Paris who finished with a match-high 19 kills.

Big Bend hosts Columbia Basin Wednesday at 6 p.m.
