Superior Court Judicial Officer supports Wallace

| October 20, 2016 1:00 AM

Before Governor Inslee appointed David Estudillo to the Grant County Superior Court, the Grant County Bar Association conducted a poll of its members to provide input for the governor from those of us who were most knowledgeable about the candidates and their qualifications. Nick Wallace was determined to be by far the most qualified candidate. Nonetheless, the governor appointed David Estudillo.

The governor did not appoint David Estudillo to the Superior Court bench out of concern for Grant County or its judiciary. He did so merely to promote his own agenda. I was told by the governor’s assistant prior to the appointment I would be contacted because the governor wanted input from local judicial officers. I was never contacted. The governor’s failure to seek input from local judges spoke volumes to me.

Before judges Evan Sperline, John Antosz and John Knodell appointed me as the Grant County Superior Court Commissioner I practiced law in eastern Washington for 35 years. During that time I never encountered David Estudillo. If he spent 20 years practicing litigation as he has claimed in his campaign, he did not do so in Grant County. Local lawyers and judges have the same recollection.

Local lawyers and judges know and respect Nick Wallace. I have known him for 20 years. He is highly respected for his legal knowledge, his ability to solve legal issues, his ability to help parties resolve disputes as a lawyer and through his services as a mediator, and his frequent service to Grant County Superior Court as a judge pro tempore. He is also respected for the years he has devoted to our community through his involvement in Grant County Special Olympics and youth sports.

I urge you to join me in voting for Nick Wallace for Grant County Superior Court.
