New business construction projects moving right along

MOSES LAKE — Construction crews on three major projects in Moses Lake are pressing forward with hopes of completion before the weather in central Washington turns.

Cameron Construction of Salt Lake City, Utah, is doing the interior work on the 22,878-square-foot Sportsman Warehouse building at 1020 North Stratford Rd.

“This is a tenant improvement of an existing space,” said superintendent Paul Miner. “Starting next week we’ll have crews in here and start building walls. This is about mid-range in size. The last one I did was 35,000 square feet, but that was a brand new building in Phoenix.”

Miner said they are on schedule to open the store by mid-February.

“Washington is one of (Sportsman’s Warehouse’s) better markets,” Miner said. “This is one of four or five stores in Washington.”

The Utah-based company has stores in Wenatchee, Kennewick and Spokane in eastern Washington, according to the company website. It specializes in supplying gear for hunters and fishermen, hikers, campers, archers, off-road and boating enthusiasts, canoeists and kayakers.

The project at the Moses Lake Town Center is expected to move forward in a hurry once crews begin next week.

Bosch II Construction has most of the framing completed on the new 2,900 square-foot Pizza Hut building at 715 S. Pioneer Ave. The building, parking lot and landscape work is expected to be completed for the grand opening around the first of the year.

The WinCo Foods building on Stratford is close to be enclosed as crews move forward on the 21st Washington store. The store will be located between Stratford Road and Central Drive, adjacent to Moses Lake Town Center, which houses Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts store and the future Marshall’s and Party City stores.

After beginning construction in June, the project has taken shape on the 16-acre lot. The warehouse-style grocery based out of Boise, Idaho, is expected to open sometime in the second quarter of 2017.
